Why was MOMMA'S JEWELS™ created?
I was traveling by plane with my 6-month-old son, who
happened to be teething and chewing on anything within
his reach. He dropped (okay...he threw) his teething ring
so many times, that I must have worn a path on the way to
the bathroom. Needless to say, I was equally frustrated with having to clean his teething
ring in an airplane bathroom. Every mom can relate to this favorite baby pastime - throwing everything on the ground!
Teething is one of the great milestones of a baby’s development. But I quickly became tired of constantly picking up everything my little one
put in his mouth, cleaning it off, only for the same thing to happen again moments later. The idea for Momma’s Jewels came to me as I was
picking up my son’s unsightly plastic blue teether for the last time.
It was out of simple frustration I started creating ways to solve the dilemma. So I began designing. I started with plastic beads (like the ones
on a typical plastic teething ring). While my little one loved the first few pieces I created, I didn’t. Lets face it; I had a plastic teething ring
around my neck. Also, there is much controversy regarding the safety of plastic teething rings. In addition, I wanted a genuine piece of
stylish jewelry that I could wear everyday and then save as a keepsake for my child. I faced the dilemma of form versus function. Then the
idea came to me! It's a wonderful fact that my favorite jewelry, sterling silver, happens to be safe and cool to the touch
(i.e soothing to gums), thus beneficial to baby. In addition, it is beautiful to wear and easy to clean. So I designed a necklace that combined
form and function and created a fashionable statement piece, which is also perfect for little ones! Momma’s Jewels necklaces truly bridge
the gap by marrying the jewelry category with baby category. I’m confident moms will love the way it looks and babies will enjoy endless
hours of playing.
So, in 2006, we announced the launch of a new line of sterling silver jewelry with the function of products designed for teething babies. “For
you to wear…For your baby to love™,” is the tagline describing the dual form and functionality of the Momma’s Jewels collection of chic
sterling silver necklaces created for trend-setting women and their anxiously teething little ones and grasping toddlers.
In addition, I believe in nurturing the bond between mother and baby and creating a connection that will ensure happy and healthy children. I
believe our necklaces help keep baby in mom's arms for longer periods of time...I know it helped us. I hope you and your baby enjoy your
