It’s a rare occasion that you find a baby essential that’s just as much for you as it is for the baby, but the Sterling Silver Bracelet from Momma’s Jewels is just that. The simple, shiny bauble is made to fit around your wrist and look like regular jewelry, but it doubles as a safe and eco-friendly teether for your tot with a soothing rattle inside. Designer mom Stacy Rosenthal created her line of teething-appropriate jewelry after dealing with too many dirty teethers which had been dropped by baby and because she didn’t want to wear a hunk of plastic around her neck or arm. Can you blame her? Another bonus: You know there’s no toxic BPA or pesky phthalates lurking in these pretty hand-soldered and polished teething toys.

"Keep reading to find out why we love Momma's Jewels... About the company Stacy Rosenthal’s foray into jewelry manufacturing was anything but planned. Like any mother flying with a 6-month old baby boy, Stacy was put in the position no parent likes to be in. Within moments of boarding, two-hundred other passengers stare at you, wondering whether or not your child is an on-board screamer. As parents, there is nothing we can do to control a teething child’s desire to grab onto and chew anything within arms reach. We also know that learning cause-and-effect is an important part of development. Incidentally, teething rings make excellent objects to be thrown by baby and retrieved by mommy. The fact that you’re stuck in a metal tube at 37,000 feet in the air matters not to your precious little one, but it sure matters to your fellow travelers. After countless trips down the isle to retrieve his teething ring only to wash it in what was presumably a dirty airplane bathroom, Stacy realized that there had to be a better way to accommodate baby’s natural desire to teethe while saving mommy the aggravation of constant trips to the airplane loo. About the product Each piece of jewelry made by Momma’s Jewels is constructed using .925 sterling silver. We reviewed the 3-ring sterling silver necklace, which has a 30-inch curb link chain that weighs approximately 0.50 ounces. The chain is endless, and because it lacks a clasping mechanism your hair won’t get tangled in the necklace and your baby’s frighteningly nimble fingers won’t be able to break any little pieces. Each ring has an outside measurement of 2.125 inches in diameter and weighs approximately 0.47 ounces. When combined, the total weight of the 3-ring necklace is approximately 2.0 ounces. Each ring is hollow and contains a small floating bead that mimics the sound of a baby rattle when shaken. Safety & manufacturing Each ring begins as a sheet of sterling silver that is rolled into tubing and is arbored into open rings. A small bead is inserted into each open ring and then sealed by soldering the two ends together. The rings are cleaned, secured, and then dipped in water to ensure an airtight closure. Hand polishing and one last water bath conclude the manufacturing process, and then the rings are paired with a curb link chain. Momma’s Jewels are manufactured in the United States, Massachusetts and Rhode Island specifically. Most impressively, Momma’s Jewels outsources testing to Specialized Technology Resources (STR), a global leader in quality and safety testing. Among other areas, STR has expertise in the safety of children’s products and jewelry. The company complies with and often exceeds Consumer Product Safety Commission standards and the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. Momma’s Jewels are tested for compression, small parts, sharp edges, lead and other toxic substances. Products are retested any time there is a change in manufacturing protocol, location, supply chain, or standards. Product pros Countless adjectives can be used to describe Stacy Rosenthal’s teething necklaces ~ elegant, classic, whimsical, fun, entertaining, and durable. Yet, regardless of how outwardly appealing a particular product may be, nothing takes the place of safety. While I cannot guarantee the safety of her products in your home - your child might just be a budding Einstein and be able to dismantle the necklace and launch a rocket with it - Momma’s Jewels has seemingly covered its bases with regard to safety and testing. There are few companies out there that care as much as about safety as Momma’s Jewels and Rosenthal’s use of STR is testament to this commitment. Admittedly, I was a bit skeptical about the use of sterling silver as a teething product, but after a bit of research I discovered that it has antimicrobial properties. Silver is thought to inhibit the growth of broad spectrum bacteria and fungi while also decreasing odors. Rather than plastic polymers or nylon derivatives, I believe that sterling silver, when manufactured correctly, is exactly the type of product I want my son chewing on. Possessing an amphibian-like quality, the necklace looks good on everyone that I’ve asked wear it. Whether you’re a business mom, an eclectic mom, or a yoga mom this necklace will fit into your style. Its simple design, clean lines, and high-quality silver make it versatile enough to throw on when you’re headed to a summer BBQ, off to the office, or to the grocery store. Most impressively, after your baby is done teething on it, you can have it discreetly engraved as a keepsake and continue wearing it because of its timeless design. On a final note, my son loves this necklace, making it as useful as it is beautiful. He chews it continually until he decides that he’d rather play with it. Not only is he engaged by the natural sheen of the silver – it’s always catching his attention – he’s improving his dexterity every time he grabs the rings and intertwines them in his fingers. His pincer grasp has improved markedly since we began wearing our teething necklace. Thanks, Stacy! Product cons •Product packaging: I love the product packaging – it’s absolutely gorgeous - but I’d like to see a small felt bag to store the necklace in. Additionally, there are a lot of natural materials in the box and other packaging. Reducing the package size could save Momma’s Jewels some cash while also helping our landfills along the way. •Chain length: While the chain length is 30”, my son is extremely aggressive – and big. With a strong pull of the chain, he has left a few marks on my neck. Now while a longer chain will not stop my son from giving it the old heave-ho, it will give me a little more time to intervene. Offering customers the opportunity to purchase chains of differing lengths would be nice. Other cool features The necklace comes with a great Blitz Moonglow® care cloth for polishing. The products are made exclusively in the United States. Given the horrible economic conditions, we love it that Momma’s Jewels employs local artisans to create her masterpieces. Also, with the recent cadmium scare relating to jewelry made in China, we cannot think of a better reason to purchase Momma’s Jewels. Price 3-ring necklace retails for $279.95 Availability Available at select stores nationwide, online via Babycurean, and inside Babycurean Boutique at Phoebe Nursingwear and Due Maternity in Atlanta, GA. Bottom line Stacy Rosenthal gets it. In a sheer streak of brilliance, she has managed to fuse fashion and functionality with her teething necklaces. Her products are durable, fashionable, and timeless. Most impressively, Stacy is dedicated, enthusiastic, and extremely professional. Every contact with her has been met with a willingness to answer questions, a contagious laugh, and an engaging personality. Even when she knew her product was going to be reviewed – nay, dissected – she willingly engaged the process, promptly returned calls, and quickly shipped her product to us. Impressively, her products are quality controlled and manufacturing is monitored, certified, and occurs inside U.S. borders. There are some ways to pinch pennies with your child and remain safe, but you shouldn’t seek to do so when you’re talking about items that will end up in your child’s mouth. And while many of you might have slight sticker shock at the thought of spending near $300.00 for a teething device – remember, you get what you pay for and this is a piece of jewelry you will have and wear for years to come, quite stylishly I might add. Pretty soon, your necklace will become as essential to your daily routine as Goldfish crackers and sippy cups." Reviewed by Tracy Hart.

" Jewelry that also appeals to those old enough to tell you so

I still fondly remember Momma's Jewels as the first teething jewelry I had seen that didn't look like teething jewelry. My feeling has always been that if you're going to wear jewelry, wear jewelry that looks fabulous to everyone around you. Not just those who want to stick it in their mouths.

I'm happy to see that owner Stacy Rosenthal has expanded her line since then, and now offers some bangles that are just as sophisticated, safe, and drool-ready. The hand-soldered, single ring sterling teething bracelet looks solid, but in fact has a lovely little rattle inside. Just slide it off your wrist and let your baby go to town. Or for double your pleasure, check out the double bracelet which provides priceless photo ops in which your baby looks like she's doing one of those magician ring tricks. (Seriously, little-known benefit.)

This is not inexpensive jewelry. Know why? It's actual jewelry. Not plastic teething toys that someone sticks a chain through, then tells you you could tooootally wear it to a cocktail party. As if we'd fall for it. -Liz

"Parentville.com is highlighting 5 great products started by moms.

This is a terrific idea started by Stacy Rosenthal. It's a sterling silver necklace (or bracelet) with beads inside it that rattle. Baby loves to grab hold and use as a teether, and the silver is cool to the touch so it is soothing. Pretty for you, safe for baby and easy to clean, plus the teether won't keep falling to the floor!"

For Mom: Chic. Timeless. Functional. Easy to clean. Close to baby.

For Baby: Shiny. Interactive. Cool to the touch. Soothing. Close to Mom.

Momma's Jewels is a line of distinctive sterling silver jewelry for women to wear with the function of products designed for teething babies. "For you to wear...For your baby to love" is the tagline that describes the dual form and functionality of the Momma's Jewels collection; chic silver jewelry created for trend-setting women, their anxiously teething little ones and grasping toddlers.

The day my son was born, nearly every piece of jewelry aside from my engagement ring and wedding ring was put back in my jewelry box. Earrings are impossible and just plain scary with an infant or toddler around and I gave up on necklaces after too many of them had been ripped from my neck. Aidan never really took to teethers but he loved playing with and chewing on Daddy's watch...it's not exactly something that is easy to clean so I never liked him chewing on it. And the odd time that Aidan would use a teether, it was usually to keep him entertained while we were out and about. I know every single mom out there has been in the awkward position of having a teether fall to the ground with not a washroom in sight to clean it.

This is exactly the reason why Stacy Rosenthal created Momma's Jewels. She played around with a ton of different prototypes before the light bulb clicked and she realized sterling silver was the way to go. Like many moms, Stacy didn't want to wear a chunky, ugly beaded teething necklace that screamed "I'm a mom and have lost all sense of style!!" but instead wanted something chic, beautiful and timeless that could be worn with nearly anything and look like a gorgeous piece of jewelry. It makes perfect sense since our babies are in our arms 90% of the time...Momma's Jewels necklaces are worn by mom so baby can't drop them. The sterling silver rings and chains have been proven safe and are easy to clean with soap and water. Babies love to chew on them because they're firm, cool and naturally soothing. Toddlers love to play with them because, well, they're toddlers and love anything shiny and especially if it makes a sound!

For review, I was so lucky to receive this absolutely stunning Sterling Silver Ring Necklace pictured above. When I opened up the stylish package I actually gasped! There is nothing that looks "baby" about this mom product and the weight of it is perfect. The design is anything but flimsy - afterall they're made to be tugged on! There is no clasp to break...you actually loop the chain around the ring to keep it completely secure. The rings themselves are 2 1/8" wide and there is a very pretty sounding rattle inside! Aidan loves pulling at it and playing with it when he's sitting next to me. I'm thrilled to have such an amazing piece to share with my next baby...it'll be really interesting to see the benefits that other moms of teething babies have seen.

Part of the reason why I love Momma's Jewels so much is that these pieces of beautiful jewelry are heirlooms that can be passed on through the generations. I won't have a daughter to pass it on to, but passing it onto my sister or one of my boys when they're ready to have children will be so special for me. Maybe there will be 3 or 4 or more generations of little baby bite marks in this necklace....

Momma's Jewels collection includes a variety of styles of necklaces and bracelets. Their signature piece is the 3-Ring Sterling Silver Necklace {$279.95} Other options include the 2-Ring {$219.95} and 1-Ring {$159.95} Sterling Silver Necklaces.

This would make an incredible new mom gift. I wish I could send this post to all of your husbands! Sign them up for the Momma's Jewels Newsletter if you want to give them a hint and make sure you bookmark Momma's Jewels. - Amanda

Babies are notorious for tugging on jewelry—which is exactly what inspired Momma’s Jewels to create its lovely line of sterling silver teething necklaces and bracelets. Accessorize your eco-stylish maternity ensemble with our favorite, the Three Ring Sterling Silver Necklace. You’ll be the only one who knows that gorgeous bit of bling grazing your oh-so-voluptuous pregnancy cleavage is actually a nontoxic, naturally antimicrobial, heirloom-quality (meaning recyclable for decades and decades) teether. Once baby’s here, she won’t be able to keep her hands off your necklace, and you won’t mind one bit, knowing that those rings she’s happily gnawing are free of phthalates, BPA, lead and other nasties that can be associated with plastic teething toys. We love Momma’s Jewels as a baby-shower or new-mom gift—one that will keep on giving for generations.

Whose Jewels? Momma’s Jewels!

The tagline for Momma’s Jewels is “For you to wear… For your baby to love.” But be forewarned - your baby isn’t the only one who will love them!   These exquisite sterling silver pieces match any outfit and look completely stunning! Whether you are dressed up or dressed down, your Momma’s Jewels will be the perfect compliment. You can really tell that they have been designed with classic chic in mind, creating an enduring piece that you will be able to wear for years to come. I know that I want to wear mine every day!   The rings serve as teething rings, but are also filled with beads which allows them to double as a rattle! The 30 inch chain on the necklace puts the rings right in your baby’s field of vision and their reach.   The rattle makes a very subtle, yet distinct - noise, so you don’t need to worry about being kicked out of that nice restaurant, or getting the evil eye from a fellow shopper at Neiman Marcus.   Since the necklace is made completely of sterling silver, you need not be concerned. They are safe for your child to teeth on and play with, and with proper care will be a gorgeous keepsake and may be even a unique heirloom!

For a while there I thought my baby boy was going to grow up to be a jeweler, until I realized that all babies love jewelry. They love watches and flashy rings, bangle bracelets are also a big hit. But the one accessory babies seem unable to resist is the long necklace. Momma's Jewels is the first baby-friendly jewelry collection for moms that I actually approve of, style-wise. Don't be lured in by the not-so chic competitors. These simple, yet fashionable, sterling silver designs are baby- and mom-approved. This three-ring necklace has been a lifesaver at numerous outings when my little guy just didn't seem interested in his toys. The hollow rings are rattles and they also make an amusing clinking sound against each other. But the real draw is that these rings are a wearable teething toy. You can't say the same for a diamond-encrusted chain or strand of pearls. Available in triple-, double- and single-ring necklaces, as well as bangle bracelets at MommasJewels.com

"Jewel of the Momma"

What girl doesn't love her jewelry? Unfortunately, as soon as you become a mommy, you realize that your precious one's little digits will be all over your jewelry. I quickly realized that unless I wanted my son to yank off my antique diamond necklace from my grandmother, it better go back in the jewelry box for the next year. So what's a fashionable mom to do? Well I saw some nursing necklaces in stores. Loved the idea - a chain long enough to give the baby something to hold onto and play with while nursing [and if there are others out there who have babies who love to put their fingers up their mommy's nose, that makes the idea all the more appealing] - yet every style I came across screamed I made this myself with some beads. Not for the girl who likes to try to feel urban and chic. And then I came across Momma's Jewels at a maternity boutique on Michigan Avenue. Beautifully crafted sterling silver teething rings hanging from a long sturdy sterling chain. Not only is it something for my son to play with while nursing, but the sterling silver stays cool and is the perfect teething ring. And the bonus, because the rings are on a chain, if you have a child who loves to test the laws of gravity - they can't with this "toy."The line contains one ring, two ring and three ring designs. You can also pick your chain. I chose the two ring style with the sterling chain (mucho thanks to the hubbish for the great gift!) and I can't tell you how many complements I have gotten on it (especially from non-preggos and non-moms) and how much the little guy loves teething, banging and clanging with it. I ordered mine directly from their website, and when I myself yanked and broke the first chain I was promptly sent a replacement - no questions asked. The replacement has held up beautifully. I have been trying to get a coupon code, but being new to the world of blogging... keep checking back for that."

In one year, Stacy Rosenthal gave birth to a baby boy and to "Momma’s Jewels," a finalist in the Moms-for-profit.com Big Break Contest. Momma's jewels are stunning sterling silver necklaces (prices range from $149 to $249 for 1 to 3-ring necklaces) for moms, but with teething babies in mind. Sterling silver is not only safer than toxic plastics, but inherently cool to the touch & naturally soothing to baby’s gums while they’re teething. Each teething ring doubles as a rattle, which entertains babies in line at the grocery store or while you chat with a friend, and since they are worn by mom baby can't drop them. Feel guilty about spending that much on a teething object even though it doubles as jewelry? Consider it a Push Present to yourself and future generations. The sterling silver necklaces/teethers make great heirlooms for your kids' kids.

As babies, my boys were always grabbing at any necklace or earrings I wore.  I was always scared that small pieces would break off, or that I would lose an earring, so I stopped wearing jewelry altogether for a while.   Then, when we were out, teething rings and other play things inevitably were dropped (or thrown) on a dirty floor.   This clever line of necklaces called Mommas Jewels would help those problems.  The necklaces are designed to be played with and chewed on by your baby.  They are not cheap, but I think one of the necklaces would make a great gift for a new mom or grandmother. I saw this first at Cool Moms Picks, a great site that points out cool kid related items online.

In theory the idea of a teething necklace is kind of cool, but in actuality, I think of it like letting your dog play with shoe-shaped toys -- probably not the best lesson out there. However, the necklaces from Momma's Jewels may have just changed my mind. Created by mom Stacy Rosenthal who, like many of us, was sick of picking the teething ring off the ground for her little one, these necklaces are the ultimate marriage of fashion and function. Made of sterling silver, the large, sturdy rings are the perfect size to occupy your little one, and definitely different than your typical delicate necklace, making it fairly easy for your child to differentiate between your diamond choker and "that cool thing mommy let's me chew on."But most importantly, it looks like something I'd wear anyway--something I have yet to say about any other teething necklace to date.  And goodness knows it's nice to have something bright and shiny to distract people from all the spit stains on my shirt.
